Chocatoo

Chocatoo (choc-uh-too) is a dessert bar and coffee shop that offers a variety of sweet treats, including cakes, cookies, macarons, chocolate, and coffee.

As a designer at Chocatoo, I designed labels, menus, in-store signage as well as a website for the cafe. My primary focus when designing for Chocatoo was to ensure all designs were clean and simple. I also wanted to ensure that customers understood their options when deciding what to order.

Label Redesign Before and After

When redesigning the dessert labels, I first removed the restaurant’s logo. Customers often ordered items as “a chocatoo” rather than by the name of the item which caused confusion between customers and employees. By adding a description, it also gave customers information about what was in the product without them needing to ask. The colors and sizes of the fonts help show a clear hierarchy of importance. The black text on white added legibility versus white on brown.
